About Us

Welcome to New Glarus Elementary School! 

Our mission is to learn!  Every day, for both adults and students.  We aim to develop strong learning skills and a broad base of knowledge by utilizing proven educational materials and programs in a safe and structured environment.  The learning environment is enhanced by a caring and attentive teaching staff that encourages students daily.

New Glarus Elementary is a 4K-6 school serving approximately 470 students. We have about 55 staff members, including general education and special education teachers, an interventionist, teaching assistants, administrators, and support staff.  We invite you to visit us.

We start each day as a whole school with a Morning Meeting.  Our meeting includes lunch and breakfast menus, birthday announcements, our Knight Lesson for the week, awards, and the student-led Pledge of Allegiance.  Each week, students are selected to come to the office for Lunch with the Principal.  We have great conversations during our lunches!

At New Glarus Elementary, "The Knight Way is the Right Way!"   Our Positive Behavior Intervention and Support (PBIS) plan centers on helping children to learn to Be Respectful, Be Responsible, and Be Safe. Expectations for these behaviors are taught explicitly throughout the school.  Each week, we have a Knight Lesson that helps everyone understand the group plan to create a safe and happy learning environment.  Students are rewarded for their positive Knight Behavior with Knight Cards and random prize drawings.

We are fortunate to have an active PTO in our community that collaborates with and supports school and district initiatives.  The PTO supports class field trips as well as many other programs and projects.  We welcome and value parental involvement as an integral part of our school community.
